Attention all neighbors!!!
NoDa Safe Watch’s Extravaganza Weekend starts October 12th at 9 PM when will do a Mutley Crue walk. For those of you who don’t know, Mutley Crue is an opportunity to patrol the neighborhood with friends and your pets. This is a much loved program, and it has achieved success over the last couple of years. The walk will last about an hour, or less if you like, and will finish at the Dog Bar where we can share a couple of drinks.
Then the big event will be on Saturday, October 13 starting at around 6:30pm. The Charles Avenue Block Party is an annual event that allows neighbors and friends to come together and get to know one another better. Statistics show that communities that have neighbors who know one another have lower crime rates than other communities. We may also have some of our community officers show up and introduce themselves as well.
The party is on Charles Avenue between McDowell and Clemson Ave in the vacant lot.
We’ll be really hard to miss!!!
Last names which begin with letters A-M are asked to bring a dessert.
Last names that begin with N-Z are asked to bring a side dish.
You’re welcome to bring whatever you like to grill, your own beverages, and a lawn chair.
Greg and the rest of the NoDa Safewatch Committee
Saturday, May 21st from 6:30pm -11:30pm, the Crime and Safety Committee will hold our 5th annual Charles Avenue block party. We have so much fun, and it’s so easy.
Come on out to 1024 Charles Ave in NoDa, bring your own meat, or alternative, your own drink of preference and your lawn chairs. A grill will be made available for you to cook your meat. If you last name starts with an A – P, please bring a side dish. If your last name starts with Q- Z please bring a dessert.
This event has grown in popularity every year and is a truly wonderful opportunity to meet your neighbors. Statistics show that simply getting to know your neighbors can have an impact on crime numbers in a neighborhood. Plus, we are hoping to have our community officers join us as well so everyone can meet and thank our officers who help keep us safe.
Please come out, meet your neighbors, do your part to help keep crime down in our neighborhood, and have fun all at the same time.

The Return of The Muttley Crew
That’s right!! This Friday marks the return of the pilot program called Muttley Crew. The Muttley Crew is a group of conscientious, neighbors who walk with their dogs on Gallery crawls, and monitor the streets for suspicious behavior. Muttley Crew is a wonderful opportunity to get some exercise, meet your neighbors, walk your dogs, AND protect your neighborhood.
Officers have told us that programs like this do deter criminals from taking advantage of visitors and neighbors, and it doesn’t take much more than an hour or so.
We will meet in front of Dog Bar at 8:45pm on 5-6-2011. We will leave from Dog Bar at around 9:00pm, and walk the neighborhood armed with our 4-legged friends, flashlights, and cell phones until around 10:00pm. After we can share a drink at Dog Bar or any of the really dog-friendly places in the neighborhood. You DO NOT have to own a dog to participate. Just bring some comfortable walking shoes and a willingness to help out the neighborhood.
